Festive Challenge for Schools

The doors of The Hullabaloo remain closed over Christmas, but because Santa knows that it’s such a special place where we’re used to making magic, he’s asked his elves to set a challenge for schools in Darlington.

We are inviting schools to take part in this festive competition by submitting entries in response to the challenge below.

EYFS competition entry
Design your own wrapping paper, what would it look like?
Attached you’ll find a worksheet with a few activities for the children to participate in. The activity for the competition will be to design their own patterned wrapping paper. The child who designs the most interesting pattern for the wrapping paper will win tickets for their class to visit The Hullabaloo in 2021.

Opening date: Monday 30 November
Closing date: Wednesday 16 December 2020
Winner announced: Friday 18 December 2020
Prize: Free tickets for one class (up to 30 children)
to attend a show at The Hullabaloo in 2021*

How to enter:
To be in with a chance of winning you need to email copies of the entries created by the children to
info@theatrehullabaloo.org.uk before Wednesday 16 December 2020.
The winner will then be contacted before the end of term (by Friday 18 December 2020).

Below you’ll find a worksheet with a few activities for the children to participate in.
The activity for the competition will be to create their own elf – including drawing us a picture of the elf and telling us a little bit about them. The child who designs the best elf will win tickets for their class to visit The Hullabaloo in 2021.

Design a newspaper front page.

Below you’ll find a worksheet template for the front page of The Polar Express. The children can work alone or in pairsto come up with a story for the front page, a headline and draw a picture to illustrate it.
