Drama approaches for teachers working with young people with ASD

Friday 5 October
10.30am – 3.30pm

Developed over 25 years, The Bamboozle approach takes the power of theatre to engage children and young people with complex needs and employs a range of techniques to grow their attention, interest and involvement.

Delivered by one of Bamboozle’s lead artists, this day long workshop will introduce teachers and creative practitioners to the approach and techniques the company uses. Whether you are trying to help an individual child with extremely challenging behaviour to stay in a room, work with others and contribute their own ideas; supporting whole families to connect and play together; or seeking to effect attitudes and practice at a whole school level, this day will provide both practical ideas and inspiration. Although the workshop will particularly reference working with children who have learning difficulties, the Bamboozle Approach is equally applicable to non-disabled students.

Everyone who attends the workshop should see the performance of Storm at 4.30pm on either Wednesday 03 October or Thursday 04 October. We will contact you direct to book this once you have booked your workshop place.
Please note lunch is provided.

Storytelling CPD sessions
Chris Connaughton will help you develop your storytelling skills and find new ways to present ideas to take directly into the classroom.
Friday 16 November
1 -3.30pm

Chris will share ideas for games and exercises to build up characters for both retellings and original stories by your class. He will discuss the importance of conversation, and ways to give our children the tools to converse, as an aid to developing language skills.

Using simple acting techniques, he will help you develop your own storytelling skills and find new ways to present your ideas.

You will leave with a variety of games, exercises and story ideas which can be taken directly into the classroom to be used with your children, inspiring you to build a storytelling culture in your school.
