It’s Social Prescribing Day! (14th March 2024)

14 Mar ’24

Social Prescribing connects people to activities, groups and services in their local communities to help support their health and wellbeing. At The Hullabaloo, we are proud to be social prescribing partners using creativity to support families – particularly those navigating the transition to parenthood – to be the best they can be for each other.

Social Prescribing Day is an annual celebration of the people, organisations and communities who make social prescribing happen.

Our social prescribing programme ‘Let’s Play’ for babies and toddlers and their families began in 2021 with funding from the NHS and we work closely with other health partners across Darlington too. The course of play sessions introduces children and their grown-ups to music, movement and play activities that support developmental outcomes for children and help give families the tools to play creatively together. We were very proud to present the research connected to ‘Let’s Play’ last November which proves that the sessions improve parental confidence in play and communication and contribute to better mental health outcomes for parents and carers.

Due to the success of the programme, we are now delighted to announce that we have secured funding to run a 12-week block of sessions for families with 0-24 month old babies which will run from the 3rd May – 19th July 2024.

If you are a parent or carer of a child aged 0-24 months who feels that they would benefit from being part of Let’s Play, you can be referred into the programme by your health visitor, GP or other services who work with families. Referrals open week commencing the 18th of March – look our for more information on our socials and website.
