Play in a Day: The Enormous Turnip

Play in a Day is a fantastic way to develop confidence, learn new skills and games, be part of a team and make new friends – it’s also a great way to have a lot of fun

Led by Actor and Storyteller, Chris Connaughton. 10am – 4.30pm (ends with a short performance for family and friends which starts at 4pm)

The Enormous Turnip

How on earth is the old man going to pull up the turnip that has just grown bigger and bigger and bigger? He definitely needs some help! One by one he is joined by various people and animals who ‘pull, pull, pull’ with the old man, but still the enormous turnip will not budge. Suddenly a tiny mouse is spotted and with a fantastic team effort, the turnip is eventually pulled from the ground and a turnip dinner is enjoyed by all!

This well-known tale is a great introduction to drama for younger children aged 5-8 years. To take part in a Play in a Day, please wear loose clothing and trainers, bring a packed lunch.

Please note that workshops have been designed especially with this age group’s developmental needs in mind and we are unable to accommodate children outside the specified age range.
