If You Come Down to The Park Tonight – Free Workshops

Come and join us at South Park for two wonderful theatre workshops this Easter holiday!

We have a really exciting opportunity for children and their grown-ups to help create a brand-new theatre adventure, experienced through headphones with Australian artist, Jess Wilson and UK artist Olivia Furber. Jess is one of Australia’s most distinguished artists in site based theatre and participatory art. Oliva is a theatre director and experienced writer working across theatre, film and installation.

Along with Jess and Olivia, we would like to invite families to two workshops that are the very first step in creating If You Come Down To The Park Tonight — in development, premiering in 2027.

In these workshops, you’ll explore South Park, use special recording devices, and take part in playful activities to dream up characters, worlds, and stories. We need your imagination to help build the kingdom!

After a first session on Tuesday, you’ll be invited back to the park on Thursday with a grown-up of your choice. Together, you’ll interview them, test out exciting audio material, and try out ideas for the show as it begins to take shape.

Come and join us for the free workshops at South Park over 2 days! Ideally you’ll be able to attend both dates but it’s not a problem if you can’t. Please note that the workshops are during the day but the final theatre experience will be shown at dusk using headphones in 2027 (hence the name If You Come Down To The Park Tonight).

For children aged 7-11

Tuesday 14th April,  10am-12pm – Children will be dropped off by their caregivers and will be in the care of Theatre Hullabaloo staff, Jess Wilson and Olivia Furber. Games, Conversations, Recording Exercises and Role Play

Thursday 16th April, 10am-12pm – Both Children & their Caregivers will attend the session with Theatre Hullabaloo staff, Jess Wilson and Olivia Furber.  Discussions & Pair Work Exercises.
