TakeOff Festival

What is TakeOff?

TakeOff Festival is England’s leading festival of theatre for children and young people. Produced by Theatre Hullabaloo it is a week-long festival of shows, workshops and family fun for children in venues across the North East.

Each year we bring some of the most exciting theatre companies from the UK and beyond to the region so that their work can be enjoyed by schools, families, children and young people in a variety of venues.

TakeOff Festival returns 15 – 21 October 2018. If you would like to discuss TakeOff Festival with us in more detail, please contact Lucy Ridley at lucyridley@theatrehullabaloo.org.uk

Once we announce the programme in Spring 2018 you will be able to explore and read about the fabulous shows that we have on offer. Our brochure will also be available on this page to download. In the meantime, if you are looking for something to see or do come along and visit our new venue in Darlington, The Hullabaloo, or check what we have available on tour near you.

Book a school trip

We will be announcing the new festival in May 2018. Please keep checking back for details.

We know how busy teachers are and how difficult it can be to arrange trips out of school, so we like to make life as easy as possible to attend TakeOff Festival. We will:

  • Arrange return travel from your nursery to the venue
  • Meet and greet you from the bus
  • Provide a risk assessment for your visit
  • Organise packed lunch areas or other activities to extend your visit
  • Don’t forget – teachers and accompanying adults go free (in line with recommended ratios).

Our shows are specifically targeted to meet the learning and developmental needs of your children. Many offer learning resources with themed links to the curriculum.

TakeOff Festival returns to Durham from 15-21 October 2018. Guest Festival Programmer, Tony Reekie is pulling together an exciting programme of work for you to see across the delegate days.

Delegate dates: Wednesday 17 – Thursday 19 October.
