Autumn / Winter at The Hullabaloo

4 Sep ’18

Theatre Hullabaloo, the North East’s leading children’s theatre organisation, have announced their new Autumn/Winter Season of magical things to see and do at their flagship venue, The Hullabaloo, in Darlington.

The Hullabaloo, a dedicated venue for children and families, opened its doors in December last year and has since welcomed over 15 000 children and their grown-ups to watch specially made theatre or enjoy the free creative play installations on offer at the venue.

Highlights this season include Storm (Bamboozle Theatre Company) a production designed for children and young people aged 7-11 years who are on the autistic spectrum and No Show (Ellie Dubois) a production that deconstructs superhuman circus performers and shows them as vulnerable human beings, putting female strength, skill and power centre stage, suitable for ages 9+.

Direct from Australia, the internationally award-winning company Slingsby arrive at The Hullabaloo in November with an immersive performance of The Young King, an intimate and magical show using the beautiful and tender language of Oscar Wilde, for children aged 8 and over.

Younger children and their families can enjoy Little Gift (M6 Theatre Company & Andy Manley) a brand new story for ages 3+ that brings light into the darkest season of the year, and Martha (Catherine Wheels Theatre Company) an original show about friendship for ages 4+ from the company who brought you White, which visited the venue earlier this year.

The season draws to a close at The Hullabaloo this Christmas with Theatre Hullabaloo’s production, Luna, a magical first time theatre experience for 2-5 year olds and their families about friendship, the moon and being brave in the dark, running from 8 to 29 December.

Miranda Thain, Artistic Producer at Theatre Hullabaloo says “We have been overjoyed with the response from parents, teachers and, most importantly, children to our opening season at The Hullabaloo and are delighted to announce the jam-packed programme which takes us to Christmas.”

“This autumn we have a delicious mix of new and highly acclaimed shows from the UK and abroad. Alongside the shows, we have a brilliant programme of fun for families including A Hullabaloo in Space, Storytelling sessions (including some spooky ones at Halloween) and Stardust, the next in our series of specially commissioned play installations for age 0-6 years.
