MAKING THE MAGIC HAPPEN WITH CRAFT PACKS FOR LOCAL CHILDREN

18 Dec ’20

We have put together free craft packs and a series of online activities for local children and their families this festive period.

A donation from Darlington Building Society as part of their commitment to invest in local community projects and support from Tees Valley Combined Authority has enabled us to produce 350 ‘You Make the Magic Happen’ craft packs full of materials and ideas for festive craft activities to try at home.

The free craft packs aimed at children aged 3-7 years will be distributed via a network of local nurseries and organisations in Darlington and will be accompanied by some artists videos available from our website providing  ideas of things to make and do with the materials in the packs. These craft packs and short online videos are part of a wider festive programme funded by Tees Valley Combined Authority and produced by Theatre Hullabaloo for families to enjoy as The Hullabaloo, remains closed due to restrictions around COVID-19.

Miranda Thain, CEO at Theatre Hullabaloo says “We are extremely grateful to our funders including Darlington Building Society for supporting us to create these festive craft packs for local children. Whilst The Hullabaloo sadly remains closed, we wanted to be sure that children and families had what they need to make their own creative magic this Christmas.”

“December would usually be the busiest time of the year for us The Hullabaloo and we would be welcoming many families through the doors to creative play and to enjoy a Christmas show.  This year we put together an online festive programme and we will be transforming the windows of the Hullabaloo into a winter wonderland to keep the magic alive at The Hullabaloo. If you are nearby from 17 – 24 December please do come and take a look but remember to keep a safe distance from each other”

Thanks to County Durham Community Foundation for supporting us with funding from Darlington Building Society. This will enable us to provide craft packs to local children in Darlington throughout December.

The craft packs were distributed via the following nurseries and organisations in Darlington:

Borough Road Nursery
George Dent Nursery
Skerne Park Academy
Kings Church Foodbank
The Bread & Butter Thing
Family Help CIO
